About Me
Over a decade of experience providing compassionate, trauma-informed therapy across Africa and internationally
I am a registered Counselling Psychologist with over a decade of experience working with individuals, couples, and communities across diverse contexts. My journey in psychology began at the University of the Witwatersrand, where I developed a deep commitment to understanding and addressing the impact of trauma on mental health.
My career has taken me across Africa, including work with the Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR), where I supported survivors of violence and contributed to community-based healing initiatives. I have also worked in The Gambia, collaborating with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on post-conflict mental health programmes and supporting communities navigating complex social and personal transitions.
These experiences have shaped my understanding of resilience, healing, and the importance of culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care. Today, my practice is based in Johannesburg, South Africa, where I offer in-person therapy alongside online support.
"Therapy is about creating a safe space where you can explore your experiences, understand your patterns, and find your way forward—at your own pace."
How I Work
My therapeutic approach is grounded in psychodynamic therapy, which focuses on understanding the deeper patterns and relationships that shape how we experience ourselves and the world. I believe that meaningful change comes from exploring not only what we think and do, but also what we feel, why we feel it, and how these patterns developed over time.
At the same time, I work flexibly and collaboratively, adapting my approach to your needs, goals, and the time you are able to commit to therapy. While some clients benefit from longer-term, exploratory work, others may prefer more focused or time-limited support. Together, we will shape the work in a way that feels both supportive and realistic for you.
I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities as needed, including trauma-focused approaches, attachment theory, relational therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and solution-focused interventions. My work is always informed by a deep respect for each person's unique story and the social, relational, and cultural contexts that have shaped their lives.
